HMIS, Capacity Building

Problem:

A client (Ministry of Health) received its weekly, monthly, annual reports and manually input data into its health management information system.  The reports were processed and delivered in different forms, some via fax, hand delivery, and snail mail.  The data was stored in individual PCs and disparate computer applications and used individual applications for various departments.

Solution:

IT Shows built the capacity of the Ministry to collect, analyze, and store data by strengthening all aspects of the  management information system – people, equipment, software, information flow, and overall policies and procedures.  The Ministry’s Health Management information system has become one of the most advanced with online capabilities in data collection, storage, analysis, and reporting.

Benefit:

The client realized extensive cost savings, efficiency, and timeliness in its reporting requirements.   Online capabilities allow senior decision makers to review, analyze, and use the information without leaving their desk.  Information service personnel reported improved quality of the data and have increased their skills and knowledge.
